Sun gear thrust washers - LT230 rebuild

I'm refreshing my LT230 with an Ashcroft master rebuild kit + shim kit.

I've started reassembling the centre diff. There is a torque to turn setting for the centre diff which is set my different thickness thrust washers behind the front and rear sun gears.

The only washers that came in the kit are the minimum 1.05mm thickness. They give me no more than 0.35kgs to turn on each end and the WSM manual says 0.45kgs for used gears. 1.72kgs for new gears.

I guess I will order some thicker thrust washers to get over 0.45kgs, but I thought it was worth sharing / asking the question as I was surprised I didn't get anything more than a minimum thickness washer between the rebuild kit and shim kit.

Is this just something extra I need to buy? I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere before.....

I had the same thing with mine. I reassembled its with only the kits parts and have had no issues at all.

Well I'll have the next size up tomorrow, so I should be able to set it exact as per the WSM. It doesn't sound like it's a deal breaker if it's not exact, but I will be sure now.

FYI they're about $3 each, so not a big deal if anyone wants to try buy everything up front.

Not a deal breaker, but it contributes to the driveline slop we spend so much time and effort elsewhere to minimise
