    driveline vibration / chatter

My rangie seems to have developed a fair bit of driveline chatter

esp in the 60-80 kph range

    doesn't seem noticeable above 100kph

    makes the whole cab vibrate

    i can't pick it ...

checked and greased the uni's, had wheels rotated and blanced, replaced panard rod bushes

does a torque converter playing up give you those sort of symptoms?

    got me beat....

We had a similar problem with our Defender vibration between 80 - 90 especially on a downhill corner. Turned out to be panhard rod bushes, even though there was no apparent movement while watching it, while someone else turned the steering wheel.

How worn are the splines on the front tail-shaft's sliding joint - is there up and down movement?

You really need to have the wheels off the ground to unload any tension on the uni-joints to test for wear, esp. the front one's, take a good pry bar/long screwdriver and torch and give the uni-joints a good workout, Regards frank.
