Not quite correct, one spline is for the Tdi and prior t/case, the other suits the TD5 and later, regardless of vehicle.
Supply Dave with the serial number and he will tell you what type is needed.
As always with Land Rover, there is a little cross pollination between model changes.

The TD5 type can be fitted to the earlier t/case by using the later clutch hub.

Dave supplied this config to me as the earlier type ATB wasn't in stock at the time.

Yes, the ATB definitely reduces driveline slack and the potential for clunking, particularly if the thrust washers are worn/non existent in the current centre diff. :D

You have probably hit the nail on the head Tim. I would bet that they have farmed out manufacture of the part to one of their Chinese subsidiaries. Even the sun/side gears look cast(?).

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc. is a subsidiary of Tata Motors of India. Plenty of scope there for sourcing 'alternative' components, I would think.

Okay have an MY15 Defender, with say a 170 hp BAS tune
No comp work or tough rock climbing, planned.
What should i change for long term reliability, no stranding in the outback, or at least less of it.

Did I read they've also got something happening in Brazil?

I also have a MY15 with a 150hp BAS tune (have the 170hp tune as well).

Planning trip a to Fraser Is plus a few others in near future. I also tow/launch/retrieve my boat(<750kg). Not sure if that will stress it enough to potentially break it.

Should I rely on warranty and wait till out of warranty or take the risk of warranty rejection and fit a centre ATB?
