Another Freeo V6 Problem

Well after a great run with no problems for the last 2yrs and 11mths, the Freelander is really worrying me now ... with just 1 month to go on warranty.

Last week the intake manifold got replaced due to a rattle in the engine.

But now a new problem - it starts and runs on 3cylinders. Has done it twice in the last week, I thought it was a one off when it did it the first time, but it did it again this morning. Basically on startup it runs very rich (strong fuel smell) and very stuttered - almost like on 3 cylinders. After a few mins and a restart it runs 'normal'.

The only thing common to both events was the day before I had just backed the car out of the garage (for access in the garage) and then drove it back in several hours later. Ie, two really short trips the day before.

Any suggestions?

Obviously it is going to the dealer ASAP but I am a little worried that this is not very good news with my warranty expiring in a few weeks ...

Hi There,
Just a thought regarding your vehicle.....im not familiar with the freeloaders, but genetically Fuel Injected vehicles have a cold start valve, which acts basically as an extra inector for cold start duties. etc..........these can be very problematic sometimes, and particularly as your vehicle has not been running correctly,... prior to this due to the intake issues.

IT may or may not be delivering fuel ,.....or too much, .........either way, you are better off being the best friend of the dealer until it is TOTALLY fixed, as you don't want to be out of pocket eh.

Anyway, hope it's something easy and simple to fix,

cheers,

Wayne.

that made! would highly recomend anyone get that done!
was told every 150 thou k's.

hope you and the dealer can sort it out.

Provided you have reported the problem before your warranty runs out, you shouldnt have to much of a problem getting it looked at again if it happens again and they have told you it is fixed. Matt

Yeah I know, that should be the case.

They (dealer) are pretty good really so I hope I am just worrying about nothing. But I just enjoy driving the car so much I don't want anything going wrong with it.

I hope all is well, it doesnt sound serious, it might just be an electronic fault somewhere. Matt
