    Engel Fridge Slide

I am building a set of drawers for the back of my S1 Disco and want to know where I can get a fridge slide for a 40lt Engel that allows the fridge to be amounted across my boot. All of the fridge slides I have found require the fridge to be mounted front to rear in my boot and the boot of a S1 Dsico isn't long enough to allow that.
    Thanks

    Hi Fuzzy,

If you dont have a cargo barrier and no rear door pockets or inside handle the 40lt should just fit fore and aft 8O oh for the extra 100mm of a S2

I just put a Milford barrier in mine and did some measurements over the weekend with my 40lt engle and it aint going to fit fore and aft even with the rear door trim replaced with a flat panel, it still misses out by 15mm and that is at floor level, I was going to put it on top of draws, but now am rethinking the design of the area, with the fridge running side to side on top of the drawers  but wasnt going to slide it out, they can sometimes be a pain with stuff falling behind them and blocking the fridge from sliding back

Back to the drawing board and more investigation of what will fit

You might have to make your own slide, you can buy the runners, someone on here made a post about them and the supplier but it was some time ago though

Post some pics if you can, Im interested in peoples setups before I build mine

the fridge slides and the sliding brackets are nearly always available on ebay

the second hand slides go for about 40-60 bucks and the brackets can go for 120 at times...

The fridge definately won't fit lengthways as I have a cargo barrier and the inside door handle. I want the fridge on a slide so that I can put a shelf over the fridge and pack stuff on top of it when I am camping. Then I don't have to move all the stuff packed on top when I want something from the fridge.
I am going to measure up to see if I can fit the second spare or some jerry cans behind the fridge with a piece of ply between the fridge and spare.
I checked Ebay and couldn't find any fridge slides, but I will keep looking.

When I was doing my storage system for my defender, I called up the 'Department of the Interior' to get some runners for my draw, they make storage systems but also sell the parts. The heavy duty rollers cost me about $70 each from memory so I don't know how much the fridge slide would cost. The rollers are excellent quality and are working great, so I would recommend them.

I'm pretty sure they make storage systems for Discos so they can prob give you some advice.

Can you fit the fridge slider, but make a plate or mounting that fits sideways on it to take the Engel? This will give you the ability to slide it out and may be a place to mount a small storage cabinet on the other section that is not used.
    Just a thought.

I have a 39 litre engel in my Series 1 Disco, and it JUST fits length ways without the handles attached. I had to cut out a small section of the mesh of the cargo barrier so the fridge can be against the back seat though.
