    Lt95 transfer gear identification

    Hello everyone .
In the picture of my lt95 transfer the missing gear I wish to replace .
Is it called the transmission output gear or has it another name . When searcing the net I find many different items poping up as output gear .
Also this is a aus army 4x4 box so does the gear in need have a special tooth count or are these particular gears all the same .
    Thankyou to everyone .

I'm pretty sure that gear is the same on all LT95's.
P/N 90571010 according to the RR manual I've got here, but suggest you confirm with another source before ordering as I can't lay my hands on the 110 manual at present.

Its the middle and lower gears on the left of that photo that are the high range gears and get changed for the different ratios.

As it's an army LT95A you might want to keep the original transfer gear (FTC73) which has the teeth on the rear to drive the PTO winch chain. The gear Steve mentions (90571010) is off the civilian version of this box and will also fit but doesn't have the chain drive teeth. You are also going to need the correct thickness shim to go between the gear and the snap ring (90571091) to eliminate any endfloat on the mainshaft. What happened to your gear? The engaging dogs on your hi range gear look like they have a bit of wear!

I think the gear was poached for the reason you mention having the drive for a winch .
My transfer sump plate was gone aswell .
When I look into the gears it all looks as new to me .
Where should I look closer at for the wear you mention .
Thanks for your input guys .

I just found this on the web . It says all lt95 mainshaft transfer gears have 29teeth
If its correct information it shows the mainshaft transfer gear all have the same no of teeth .
I think it confirms they are all the same , only the other gears are different in teeth counts .

Someone removed the PTO and drive gear as well I guess. That explains why no gear or sump plate. Is that a box from the AFM auctions.
Have a look at the big gear on the left on the middle row or intermediate shaft. See the small dog teeth near the middle of the gear between it and the selector middle gear. To me they appear to have a worn edge on one side which may cause disengagement issues if they are bad enough. Something you are going to have to check when you put that gear back on is mainshaft forward movement which may have happened since that gear was removed. Make sure you do it in this order. Put the gearbox in 3rd gear before trying to fit the new gear, this is important to stop the mainshaft moving forward a little allowing the rear mainshaft thrust washer to come off the lip it sits on up against the rear mainshaft bearing. This may have happened already and how you will know is if you cannot fit the shim between the gear and the snap ring. These shims range from 1.5mm to 2.0mm. If there is no room for one it means the mainshaft has to come backwards. You can do this without disassembling the box - get back to me and I can tell you how to do it.Also when you have sorted the shim issue out make sure you Loctite the spacer and gear onto the shaft with a mid strength Loctite. This keeps everything in place and takes a bit of the load off the rear snap ring.
    Cheers......Brian

Tooth count is the same and I guess it depends what gear you want to fit and whether you are going to use the winch drive PTO. Either gear will fit.

No worries, guess it's a cheap gearbox then! I reckon whoever gave it to you will regret trading it for a 5 speed.

Bearman I just inspected the wear you pointed out and yes I can clearly see wear there compared to the opposite ones which appear to have no wear .
Whats involved in me replacing that worn component .
    Thanks
