My 93, 95 and 96 all do this, but they normally only click on the first brake application after start up?
Does yours do it every brake application or only after the pump had recharged the ball?

I cant find a similar thread so please forgive/direct me if you know if one.
I've a '93 LSE Rangie with ABS.
However, every time i press the brakepedal there is a little movement with minimal braking, then the pedal clicks/clunks down a fraction and breaking works perfectly.
The pedal is pretty hard but the brakes tested well at the garage. ABS also seems to kick in.
I can't do a very gentle slowing down because before the click doesn't slow me down enough and after the click it goes straight to solid braking. The post-click braking feels great and progressive, so I'm confident in the car's ability to stop me - but any weirdness in brakes bothers me.
Is this normal?
Posted here as I persume the same system will be on other Land Rovers too.

Hi Ezeman,
Not sure about the click, possibly just the light switch,But the freetravel you experience should be normal clearance in the master cylinder.Without the clearance the brakes will lock on.
Thanks for replying guys.
There's definitely a mechanical movement that could easily be a little free play before hitting some noticable resistance to make the brakes do their thing.
Benji - i checked, if i break twice within a few seconds the 2nd one doesn't click (give, release, or wharever the best term is). So there does seem some potential for the tank to be repressurising before another click.
Note: if its relevant, i did a lot of steep decents in Vic Hugh Country recently and the brakes never seem to fade. Although i do need sometimes work at staying stopped in low range, but i thing thats related to touching the gas occasionally so not to conk out - but thats a different fix.
Benji
I presume the ball needs to be permanently charged. Does this sound if the ball isn't charging quick enough?
Could be the bush in the m/c to pedal arm if it has one or a worn clevis/cotter pin.
