In the end I did find a good 2.6L locally, but $$$ was the deciding factor, and I didn't have enough of them (for the time being). So at the moment it's a case of doing the best with what I have. The speedo cable may be a symptom of the engine conversion holding the engine at the wrong angle. I'll get that fixed and then get into the speedo to see what the cause is. Might end up geting the local mecahnic to have a gander when I get him to replace a couple of seals that i'm not mechanically minded enough to fix myself.
