Disco II Diff Lock

Hi All,
Im looking for a centre diff lock kit for my discovery, We just had some work done to the gearbox under warranty and while they were working on it i got then to fit a centre diff lock kit they had organised for me from bruce davis performance but they failed to tell that it locks the diff when low range is selected with the high low lever, kinda defeats the purpose(wanted it for driving on the beach and i dont really use low on the beach)

Anyway after a bit of arguing they are taking it back out and i am getting a refund on it, so now i have to source a real diff lock lever/mechanism etc, I was looking at the AMV one but i have been given a price of 650 supplied which seems a little steep considering what it is.

can anyone suggest any others?

I went for the AMV kit on my D2 and it is pretty good and simple to operate - switch on dash - and can be selected in both high or low at any time. Another benefit is that if the CDL unit is engaged and you turn the engine off and back on again, the ABS and ETC switch off - good for sand driving or if you just dont want ETC.
There are many options out there I am sure, but the AMV works good for me. Best single modification I made to the car.

Yeh the AMV seems like a good unit, just seems a bit steep at 650 considering its just a stepper motor thing, a mount, some cabling and buttons, but i guess there just trying to make it feel like a genuine Land Rover Part

After a bit of searching around i found Discovery Automotive in WA does one as well thats much cheaper at 299 supplied, but after talking to them they say you need to remove the transfercase to fit it!!! Anyone fitted one of these up before?

Also found some posts and a link with info regarding using the Series 1 disco high/low/CDL lever which seems like a good way to go, Anyone done this before?

Mine is a v8 manual so i am not sure how much is in removing the centre console cover, shifters and tranny tunnel cover?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mick.
