    And we have far different road conditions over here. You really will get used to the noise of BF Muds very quickly, then you don't even notice it anymore. Esp in Doris the 2nd :roll:

    OK i can compare.

    Since ive had the Fender it has had Borrowed rubber of the following types.

    Orig when i got it was 7.50/16 Desert Duelers
    Then i scored a set of BFG AT's in 235/85/16. result was better on road and off road

    Then in scored some 33/9.5/15 BFG Muds. Scitish compared to the AT's

    Then these 265/75/16 BFG Muds.
    These are the best as they are wider and lower profile so less roll.

    BFG Muds when your doing about 10kmh rolling to a stop at lights on smooth pavement rattle really nice... like a massage.....

    I would say 235/85/16 for 1 reason.

    As they are spot on to 32" and most older 4bys have 32" as factory like Troopys ect then if your in the outback and you wreck a tyre you will get a 235/85/16 or 7.50/16 with no problems as they are OE on a lot of commercial 4WD's.

    I run BF M/T on my rangie, i got the second hand and cheap and even at 50% tread they leave my old A/T's for dead in the bush. Yesterday i had to pull 3 4wd with A/T's on and i cruised thru. I live in the city and just put in a better stereo to drown out the sound!!!

    Another vote here for the BFG M/T's.
    I'm running 255/85/16's, (33.3" tall when new) on the stock 6.5" HD rim, and the grip on the blacktop, dry and wet is excellent. They are proressive in their breakaway, although can howl/scream a bit in hard cornering in the dry. They are excellent dropped down to 26psi in the gravel, although I tend to leave them at around 30psi most of the time as I drive gravel, crap country roads and slightly better highway every day.
    You do notice the tread squirm when new, as the block depth is over 14mm deep, but now mine are getting pretty worn at 6mm, I can peg it into a corner, they turn in fine and they hang on.
    In terms of noise, I barely hear them, to the point I don't notice them over the wind noise.

    I had Bridgestone Dueller M/T's in 235/85/16 before, and the BFG's are a better tyre, in terms of overall grip and drive and it looks like I'll get roughly the same milage (55-60,000km). If this looks a little low, I drive really hard, live in the bush and drive gravel and very coarse bitumen roads that are narrow (1.5 cars wide) with horrible sharp, rough, deep shoulders, lots of pot holes, etc. Some locals only get 15-20,000km out of some tyres here, the roads are that bad.

    We've got BFG AT's on SWMBO's Patrol, and they are OK, and will get much better milage than I've got out of the MT's. We had Cooper ST's on it before and they were OK, but are overhyped. I think it was Slunnie who started ripping tread blocks off them off road, and really had a hard time getting Cooper to pro-rata warranty them. It is a bit of a known issue with them when you give them a bit of curry off road. The ST is surprisingly good in mud, self cleaning with a bit of wheelspin much better than the BFG AT.

    One thing you should be aware of is that you do have to rotate frequently, and I've even swapped them from side to side (same direction of rotation)as they do wear weirdly, but it is something that happens with any open lug design tyre.

    I'm running BFG MT 285/75/16's but thats because they were on the rig when I bought it. So far ive done 21,000 k's still plenty of tread. I've only slide them once and ever then only slightly when stopping in a hurry round a corner in the wet.
    And yes I do have reduced turning. Nice marks where the tyres rub if you try a full wheel lock. I havn't found the adjusters to stop this yet.

    Our Disco wears 225/75 R16 BFG ATs during the week and handles pretty well in all conditions for a heavy relatively short wheelbase thing. The 245/75 BFG MTs are not quite as good at any speed. Fine at 100, but vague at 40-60 tooling around town. Steve is spot on with the massage too. The slip angle when cornering on the tar is much less (tries to snowplough and understeer sooner) but straight line braking was surprisingly good.

    I have to admit I was relieved to have the ATs back on around town when I changed back.
