    Series 3 engine/gearbox removal

    Hi all,
    Im wondering if after removing the radiator and radiator support panel etc it would be possible to get the engine and gearbox out through the front in one piece?

    Yes. the procedure is detailed in the manual, from memory. Gear levers etc have to be removed, certainly the floor, can't remember about the seat box, but probably not.

    I have done 6cyl through the front but with floor and seatbox out also. 4Cyl I've had to lift the firewall also to get the gearbox through - a much bigger job because the opening is smaller.
