Heh. I remember replacing worn big end bearings on a FIAT. In car, sump off ( don't ask ). Would the thing start after?? I thought, Hmm, tight bearings, I'll roll start it. Did that, no change. Left the earth strap off, didn't I. Another time, I was working the throttle on a Series 2 Alpha in the Army while a mate cranked it. Burnt my fingers on the linkages as the thing was earthing back whichever way it could. Someone else had left it off this time.
Moral? Earth is important. Remember it next time you see some old Datsun with the brake lights flashing along with the blinkers.
