You need their ECU chip as well to do it.

In it's self the GEMs airflow meter flows more air, than the 4AM and combined with the chip would make a differance. But really this is a wide open throttle thing. I reckon the stock one can flow enough air for a basic engine. You have to remember RPI are setting these engines up for sports cars like TVRs Morgans MGv8, Cobra replicas etc so they are looking for some bigger numbers from them. Not like here where you can just can an LS1 or small block iron chev, ford small block etc.
Frankly I'd reckon you'd be better brushing the airflow meter all together and using an aftermarket ecu and MAP sense if you want some bigger numbers. RPI chips aren't cheap plus the meter.

It would only be effective at maximum revs full throttle. I doubt on a 3.9 especially auto it would make any difference at all.
You need more torque down low to increase the area under the torque curve.
I found that the Unichip alterations to the advance curve and to a lesser extent fuelling to be far more cost effective, followed by the Thor manifold which shifted power and torque down in the rev range.
