Power steering Series 1, 300tdi powered.

Hi guys, I am 're-converting' a SI 86" that arrived with a 202 and SII gearbox, to a 300tdi/auto. Most mod issues have/are being sorted. However, I suspect power steering will be required to replace the current 'armstrong' steering. Does anyone have real experience in the 'how to' department? I have read about Ford ZD units being an option, but there is little else on the net (unless I am prepared to pay large amounts of Euros for a continental solution).

A few details here Power steering

Do you 'know' that power steering is needed ? Worthwhile confirming unless you personally want power steering.

IIRC, the ZD is a double action hydraulic ram. I am not sure it is very "Series friendly".

I now own the S3 (Banjo's old car) that Gromit referred to so if you need any specific pics, let me know.

how are you going to fit a 300tdi and auto in the 86"? The auto is pretty long...
