    Offset Rims

Any ideas about where I can get wheels off set in Melb's East. Or does anyone have any for sale.

Also ideas on fitting dual shocks to the front of a series Landy.

I've decided to remove the hydraulic ram style power steering from my SIII Land Rover. This system is off a 1970 Ford Falcon and is similar to the type sold by Ti-Console for Land Rovers in Europe.

The reach of the hydraulic ram in the p/s prevented the turning circle from being improved.

Now I'd like to slightly offset my rims to get the optimal turning circle.

WHY? The ram style p/s does not give you the same feel for the road as modern power steering systems. (think of a tractor). My p/s sprung a leak (it's a recurrent problem that needs better hose ends) on a recent trip to the little desert. I found driving in soft sand with 30psi (half my normal tyre pressure) was still quite easy. I'm trying to prepare the vehicle for a Simpson desert trip next year and figure simlicity is easier.

Any offers over $50 for the whole power steering set up, including a spare ram will be considered favourably.

I'll copy this post to the For Sale forum, but advice on shocks and wheels is sought here.

Got mine done at Ajax Wheels in Moorabbin. They made some 10x15" for me using the original cookie cutter centres.

    Cheers,

AJAX in Moorabbin are great - did a set of 16"x9" for me with original rangie centres offset with a double lip/bead outer. Also did some reverse disco rims for my mate. Definitely recommended.

from what i remember Eastern WW was around the $100-110 mark per rim and i think Ajax was at least $10 cheaper per rim.

    wow :!: 8O

did any land rovers come out with rims that were more offset than the standard SIII LWB rims?

County, 130, anything perhaps. It might be cheaper to buy a set of rims :!: :!:
