Power steering pump - Disco 300Tdi

Well it gave up the ghost yesterday spewing red stuff from the back of the pump (not the lines). Looks like a gasket.

Is it a servicable item?

the books says no and you can't buy parts ??
I made my own gaskets ect & after I tried top rebuild it 3 times playing with shim thicknesses fitted new bearings ect (I don't give up easy) with only limted sucess (noisey) [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img] I bought a new one [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img]

rangie spares (in thomastown) was the cheapest at just over $300

Try Penshurst power steering. I've used them once for the Rangie abt 20 years ago and last year for the defender box.

They are in Helles Avenue Moorebank, in the industrial complex at the end, along with the fridge place that fixes Waecos, engels etc.

Thanks for the advice. Indeed the manual say's not serviceable. Purchased a new replacement from Karcraft (~$250). Fitted this on Saturday together with a new water pump, tensioner pulley bearing and new belts. The belts had been sqealing since I replaced them 40 km ago but now all is quiet [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img] . I noticed that the replacement main belt has a textured finish where as the old one was smooth. I think that this has made the differrence.
