If the wiring for the sensor cap is still there...stick with it ....could save a lot of grief resulting from loss of coolant!Shop around for a cap eg PRC7925 | Low Level Water Sensor Rr Classic - Land Rover Part PRC7925
Hi All
Ive recently acquired a 1992 Range Rover with 3.9 v8 auto
The plastic resevior has a plastic cap which incorporates a low fluid level sensor,
Now the sensor plug is missing and I'm wondering if the black plastic cap used on a series 1 Disco (say 1996 v8i) would be the equivalent to replace it as it seems pointless purchasing the original cap for $68.00c.
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers
Baggy

And it is a bit trickey as the although the cap just has a reed switch in it, the signal is reversed from what you would expect, and is interpreted by the dash ECU .
I thought That I could just fit any reed switch but no it has to be the cap.
If you just bridged the contacts the light didn't come on.
So buy a switch/cap.

the d1 cap fits from memroy and if needed you can add an aftermarket level switch.
by the time you faff around its cheaper to just get the proper replacement cap.

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
D1 cap has the pressure relief in it so the sensor wont fit and valve wont work.
