I think sonebody else on the forum was chopping a disco into a ute, but I don't think that they have finished. The ones i've seen looked good though.

I have a problem (have a few but the doctors are looking after the others).
I love my discovery!!!
Its great plenty of head room (I’m 6'3" tall) and just find it very comfortable. I don’t have to get out to lock it into 4WD.
It suits me.
That’s not the problem.
The problem is I need a ute.
Had a look at a defender ute the other day, mmmm a bit tight getting in and out and that f***ing hand brake, what’s the deal with that?
I would love to stay with the green oval.
Has anyone done a disco ute?
Do they look good?
Am I stupid????
What do you think are my options?
Any serious help would be appreciated
Thanks
LBudgie

130's rule
If only LR had bought out disco cab/chassis they would have sold millions
With the defender you could look at moving the seats back. Mine are a couple of centimetres back and it does make a difference.
I'm 6'3" and don't have a problem with height or cab. This Land Rover round I've lucked out with the hand brake lever on the passenger side.
It does make a difference on the left knee.
Don't know how this happened, either import or changeover by previous owner, but it might be worth looking into.
Cheers
Simon.
Does the handbrake on a Defender differ from my County?
Once the handbrake is released, it doesn't get in the way at all. I find the door pull on the driver's door on the County and Defenders far more irritating. It always rubs my leg.

Speak to Andrew at OnTrack4x4. He did the ute conversion for my GU Patrol. Check out the photos in www.ontrack4x4.net.au
The Patrol has been converted into a dual cab, but maybe you'll need an extra cab ute because the Disco isn't long enough for a dual cab conversion. I also drive a Disco2 as my daily driver and on club trips. I already had some consideration about converting the Disco into a ute, but not for a while yet.
i wrote to AMV and they said they started to build a ute but did not finish, and had no photos.
anyone got any photos?
or other ideas :?:
i dont realy want to get a jap ute but that might be my only alternative
please,please
