    '98-'00 = L series
    '01 - current = TD4

    Both are very nice engines with no problems to speak of in my experience (unless you fill the TD4 with petrol which has happened a couple of times recently :? ).

    TimM - You answered the question yourself - if the car is a TD4 then it has a TD4 engine. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

    I think we all learnt something - for me I always thought the TD4, TD5 and TD6 were all from the same family of engines - apparently it ain't so.

    This is what these forums are about, to express views, to argue, have a bit of sledging and maybe learn something new or help someone else.

    If the thread is dull to some people them don't follow it - there are plenty to go around and there is something for everyone!!
