Disco Gearing Options?

Well I'm back to playing with my toy's again, I have just raised the Disco
2', to allow Mickey 265/75/r16's, have had to trim some of the rear wheel arches to allow better wheel travel. After doing this the 300tdi looks cool, has a bit of a struggle taking off from the lights, but once we are travelling we hook along nicely
My question has anyone installed gears to help with larger wheels? As I have noticed a drop in performance?
If anyone lives in Adelaide and has done this please IM me, as I need to do something soon!!!!

Thanks
Regards
Crawfy

Yep Maxi 4.11 CWP diff gears for me when I fitted 265/75r16 muds to my D2 - no wheel arch cutting for me thankfully. Exact same thing happened, not so quick off the mark but quite pleasant taller gears when cruising, drove around like that for a while but knew I had to do something as low range was very fast in 1st and no good for crawling through, up and over the rough stuff. While your in the diff you may as well fit lockers - quickly adds up but well worth it. Talk to Mal at Maxi Drive, real nice bloke who is always happy to explain the options.

Good luck, Mick

Mal's no. at Maxi Drive is 07 5530 3934. Expect to pay around $1500 for just the 4.11 diff gears but well worth it. My D2 now runs smooth as on road and has excellent off road crawlability for what I use it for. Just watch your speedo readings now with the bigger rubber.

You might want to look at Ashcroft Transmissions in UK. I got my 4.11's from there landed at $1200. Good looking units. They are only a couple of weeks old so have not tried them in earnest yet.

They are matched to ARB lockers Maxi half shafts and 265x75r16 BFG AT's for the road and 33x10.5-16's JT2's for fun. Had to rebuild the driveshafts , but they needed it.

I was looking at changing mine the other way. It currently cruises between 2000-2500 revs @100k's. I would prefer it to be lower fro better fuel consumption. Anybody gone that way?
