    Discovery Transmission

    G'day All,
    I have a 2003 Discovery V8. I am experiencing a destinct metalic "clang" when engaging reverse [automatic]. Dealer tells me this is normal. Fact is, it has only just started to happen [39000k]. Has anyone had any such problem? Being new to this site, I hope I am posting this in the correct place.

    i would be crawling under it to see where the noise is coming from.... some clunking is normal as it is british engineering we are playing with [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img]

    could be anything from a rear suspension ball joint to something amiss in the drivetrain to loose wheels nuts [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img].

    I would be getting a non dealer specialist to take a look,as a "second opinion".
    As Inc says could be a maner of things,uni joint,handbrake,exsessive backlash in a diff.
    It would be well worth paying for a quick inspection and report.
