Does your "dredge" have a 3" breathing apparatus, because it does sound good.
sure does mate

In an ideal world, yes. If you look at pure race engines turbocharged such as a Champ Car engine, they use equal length primary tubes, going into a merge collector such as thiswhich looks like this internally
this provides a smooth transition for the gases, maintaining as much energy as possible which would be lost in a road car/box type collector. In Sports Prototypes and Champ Cars, the pipes are made from inconel, (an exotic high temp resistant alloy, and very, very hard to work), lesser categories use various grades of stainless steel, and are insulated to retain as much heat (energy) as possible to reduce spool up time (lag).
Also, generally, the primary tubes feed into the collector in firing order.
All of this is pretty much in order for a normally aspirated engine as well.
I shouldn't have read this article, now I don't know what to do first. dual battery set up or 3" exhaust. :?

Who cares it would sound awsome. Originally posted by Steinzy
Hey Guys,
Do you think a 3 inch would go alright on my 4.0 V8 Rangie or would it lose to much back pressure???
Seriously though, i'm not sure, its only a small capacity engine, but seeing an exhaust specialist would be the go. A larger exhaust and some pacemaker headers would make it go, and sound awsome. Matt

I can't wait to hear the sound of the V8. I was thinking of running twin pipes!! I havent been able to find anyone on the Gold Coast who can get a set of headers without custom making them. Are they available as an aftermarket item for the P38A??

Sorry for my ignorance, but are we talking about a 3" system on a 300TDI ?
And this gives an increase in power and torque ?

As there is less back pressure the turbo spools up SOOOOOO quick.
