SRS optional, Alarm on SE model and above.

S model should have key operated central locking.

If not working could be broken, or lazy master solonoid on main door.

    Cheers

Sounds like the S model like mine that I bought in early 98 (97 Tdi S) as it had no airbag etc, hence I didn't have to worry about Airbag compatible bullbars etc. Should have key operated central locking, no alarm or mags.

    Cheers

The S definately should have had central locking, I can not remember if it was remote or not. We bought the SE new standard with alarm, central locking and SRS airbag. Passenger side optional. SRS was an option on the S. But if you were going this way it was just as cheap to buy the SE. This is why we bought the SE, with the extras they would put on the SE as part of the deal it was bugger all dearer to get the SE at the end of the day. The SRS fuse box and plugs etc will be there as it is a standard factory installation to allow for options.

    Thanks guys
looks like the central locking is not working, all doors have to be locked individually, it's a bit growlly in 4 & 5 gear so thats something he'll have to save for and at least it's a Tdi :lol but what do you get for $7K
