    Oil In Intercooler Hose

I have removed the the hose that runs from the inter cooler to the inlet manifold on my Td5.

The tipped the hose up and I reckon about half a teaspoon of oil ran out.

If I positioned the hose to allow it to drain for a while there would probably be a bit more.

Is this normal or do I have a problem?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Fairly normal over time, fit a provent or similar and it will catch most of this. Wait until you clean the inter-cooler. Worse still if you still have the EGR and not blanked wait until you clean the inlet manifold.
    Cheers

Also check the valve between the rocker cover and the air intake hose before the turbo.
A few folk have found over time they don't perform as they should and allow more of the engine oil fumes into the intake system than it should.
    Cheers, Kyle

+1^^^, with the addendum that you can't actually check it if it works OK or not even if it closes, if you know it's old simply replace it with new cos it's not very expensive(official name is "depression control valve" = LLN100140L), i treat it like a medium term service item and replace it after around 30K Km with good results...and if it was so much oil there clean the MAP sensor too

Egr is long gone. I have had a provent now for a while, just can't find time to fit it.

So this topic now poses another question. My reason for removing the hose was to remove the radiator, as I could not fit in the big tension wrench to torque the harmonic balancer bolt.

I have in my shed a new Allisport intercooler, which I have been holding off from fitting until I fitted the provent.

Now that I have the old one out do I now fit my new one?

I'd certainly do that if i was you but together with the provent or at least with new depression control valve, the provent has it's own valve so no need for that anymore if you fit it

sierrafery, you being in the USA, I always assumed you must have had a V8.

I have never taken any notice of your signature.

So how did you get a TD5? Did you import one?

have often noticed your West of Transylvania tag, but thought you were just taking the Mickey. Romania, one country I would love to visit, being a big Dracula and Vlad the Impaler fan.
Also have a friend on FB that post some spectacular photos of Romania.
