    Leaking fuel filter

    Hi everyone, I haven't found a thread on this issue so here I go;
    I just drained the water sedimenter on my 2000 110, and after doing it back up it won't stop leaking diesel, about 1 drop every few seconds for the last hour or so. I have a new fuel filter on order so it's not a massive issue, but I'd like to fix it.

    Cheers, Sean

    the td5 doesnt have a sedimentor as such.

    if you'r'e talking about the plastic bung/water level sensor in the fuel filter inside of the rhr wheel it means youve either stripped the thread for the plastic bung part, contaminated the oring or damaged the oring.

    from memory its an m10x1.5 thread so in a pinch a short bolt with an oring on ti will get you out of trouble. if its not just the oring failed.

    Dont try to over tighten the platic plug as thats going to snap it off inside the filter and its a pain to get that out.

    That's the filter I'm talking about. It was difficult to open (probably not drained in a long time, I just bought the car). Do you think the fuel leaking will cause any issues for the next couple of drives until the new filter arrives?
    Thanks for your help

    Where is it leaking? I have learnt from experience that the rubber seal on the filter can stick to the vehicle and then if you put on a new filter with anothe seal you end up with 2 seals which can leak. Perhaps the previous owner accidentally added a seal? I did this once and it didn't leak for ages, until it was disturbed, then it sprung a leak. Removed one of the seals and problem solved.

    If its same as D2,a 10mm bolt will screw in,make a washer up out of a bit of rubber sheet,easy as.

    The plastic gets brittle and breaks,so be careful as you may get a big leak.

    i had one snap off once,as you can imagine quite a large leak.After that i kept a bolt and rubber washer in the glove box.

    You may also be able to use a bolt with a heap of thread tape on it.

    It's leaking out the hole that water comes out when you drain the filter. Still leaking now... hopefully it'I'll start in the morning

    It's likely the Leung has broken or a bit of "crud" has got between sealing surfaces...

    Easy to check.
