Thanks,
I had already spoken to Will, who is selling that ZF. I would love it but after buying a 4.6 block I don't have any more money.

I got a price today for all the ancillary stuff I need to put the motor back together ie. camshaft, lifters, timing chain and all gaskets...$960! 8O

If you remove the engine mounts you can drop the motor down forward and reach the top bellhousing bolts from above. do you have a timing cover/ balancer/ water pump for the 4.6 ? I have just purchased all those bits off a 3.9 disco motor to put on a 4.4 but apparently they wont fit, so if you pm me i can sell them for a lot cheaper than you have been quoted.

I can use all my 3.5 timing cover, water pump etc.

However, I do have 2 bolts for the water pump that have broken off in the timing cover. I think I can drill them out....but.....worst case I made need a new water pump & timing cover.

As for the balancer, I think I need to use a 3.5 one so that the belts match up with the alternator & steering pump. If someone could confirm whether it is the same as the 3.5 then i would also be interested. If you could PM me with prices it would be great.

As for the top bell housing bolts, they were easy, especially when you have a 2" body lift and an air rachet. ....and a forklift to pull everything out.

Walker,

have you tried sourcing the parts from the UK. Paddocks aren't too bad and they even have a currency converter

The prices converted to Aussie dollars are still much cheaper, but you have to be careful with the GST crap if over a cetertain amoyunt (not sure but someome here should know) I bought a few seals, a oil temp switch and some gaskets for $25 AUD inc. postage. I priced it locally and I saved about $40 in total, not bad if I say so myself.

Yes, Rover V8 rebuilds are'nt cheap if I say so myself. Good luck with it

Regards,

Trav

I agree, thay're a bit slow. Took 2 weeks for my gear to arrive and it was a small package 8O

Any other UK Land Rover parts distributor that's quicker, I would definatley be keen to know.
