Apollo AP 703 (an old find) ... any good?

My Dad had this old CB radio that we used to use when we went camping as kids, he put it in our old family VC Commodore and one time on the way to the Grampians the wind was so strong it blew the arial off the boot haha memories!

Anyway, my folks moved house recently and he was going to throw out the old CB radio and I said "NO" so I nabbed it...now I want to put it in my Disco...are they decent?

The woodgrain matches the woodgrain on my dash haha...I read a few things about AM vs UHF radios and it sounds like one of each shouldn't be a bad thing, but just wanted to see if anyone thought these bad boys were good as AM radios?

Lordy! Something like that probably belongs in the Smithsonian. I would bet you would find a collector that would love it. You could put it in your car, but I'm not sure who you would find to talk to. I reckon you should pop over to the Verandah ( this forum ), and put it up there. Folks there are into everything. Good luck with it.

    Oh wow! An old 18ch...

I wouldn't bother fitting it in the vehicle - just keep it somewhere safe...

Hahaha but it matches the woodgrain on my dash Maybe I could find the guy from I Am Legend??

Isn't an AM radio still kind of handy in certain terrain or is that a newer AM radio?

These things don't pick up the AM (= Amplitude Modulation) broadcast radio, just the CB channels. I'm not sure the AM CB channels even exist any more. Keep the radio for a classic 70's car resto or sell it to someone who is doing one.

The 40ch 27mhz frequencies are still in the Citizens Band...

And does have a bit of a following reforming from what I hear.. but not for mobile use - the people using them are on SSB chasing skip..
