ACE- I just had the RR blueslipped, and dropped a valve within a month of driving... not happy- wife MUCH less happy...
So plan on getting the engine to sydney in the next fortnight- then, I'm taking a week of over christmas and plan to do it then (assuming I have all the bits ready to go), and I plan on doing prelimnary measurements etc before then- also taking of the RR efi set up etc next w/e and will probably e-bay to raise some funds as well...

I think the sump is a fibre reinforced aluminium and it cannot be cut and shut, so I think your only option is to get a US one. Of course I could be wrong!!! Have a look .

I know HSV has had no trouble with his ZF , but a 4HP22 has a maximum torque rating just above a 3.9. and the 4HP24 is just above a 4.6.
You can put a 4HP24 oil pump and clutches into a 4HP22 . It makes the trannie about 1/2 inch longer. BUT the torque capacity is still about 50-100 Ft lbs short of a Gen111.
Thus my talk about the killer ZF rebuild. And a Turbo 700 (or 4LO 40 or whatever the computer controlled one is called) V8 version has a torque rating above the output of a gen111 (obviously).
    regards Philip A

Sounds good, keep us updated with photos and stuff during the conversion. I am not aware of this conversion ever being done. Matt

Now that looks like a top set up. I would love to see the look on all the cruiser and patrol drivers faces as you let them catch up to you, draw along side you and then smoke them

You dont have a photo of the whole car do you. That shiny red paint looks good, wouldnt mind seeing the whole car in all its glory. Matt

Fuel economy and this engine coversion just dont go together. I race the Defender so its in a very "high state" of tune shall we say. I also run an open system as opposed to the closed loop that holden use. No oxygen sensor either

I have a 3 speed auto and 4.11 diffs so fuel consumption is more the word

Now that its run Im getting around 30lt to 40lt/100km around town. Full race with the motor running at 5500rpm all day in soft sand and rough country at top speed 100lt per 100kms is what I alllow for but it normally comes back to somewhere in between over a whole race
