    winches

Ok decided to go electric, but now need to find out about brands.Warn XD9000 $1750 plus fitting, Tmax 9000 $1300. Is the warn that much better for the occassional winch.Would like to hear about other brands as well, its not like I'll be using the thing that often, thanks.

OK the Repco, Tmax, Brawn and all the other cheap ones are the same winch.
i know as i was looking at getting some in until i found a cheaper source here. Someone else brought in container loads of them.

Brawn land the 8000lb here for $196 each... then go over them and then sell them for $1200....... Not bad ehh.....

is the Warn better??? Long term yes, but how much winching do you do??

i have used a 8000lb Repco and it was nice. Worked well...

Well here I go with my big mouth. I have not installed one but I think it is dead simple if you have a couple of brawny mates.

Just a couple of bolts, but the BIG job is to lift the winch bar and winch together and do it up. Try 100KG.
Its the other stuff that you will have to do that takes time but I would trust myself more than the installer "brain surgeons"
You will need new springs, easy but time consuming.
A second battery, again easy but time consuming, and the controllers usually have good instructions.
Then you have to find a place for the relay block and connect 2 Bloody big wires. As long as you use common sense and know your pos from your neg, and sleeve the wires through panels etc, its dead easy.
And THEN unless you go out rockcrawling by yourself you will probably never use it, and when you go to use it you will find it is seized solid because of that deep water crossing you did months ago.
    regards Philip A
