TO: the OP (was it iamapom?),

Sorry to here about your situation, reminds me a bit of another great Melbourne based AULRO fella's recent challenges. Monster praise for both of you with your determination and grit in getting back on with life - head on.

    TO: loanrangie,

As the OP hasn't dropped back in to check or comment, I am not sure about the "helper" approach... it's possible he may just want to handle it all as a commercial transaction and not from a "community support" perspective. Sure he will let us know...

If it's a commercial approach, I would refer (in Melbourne) this sort of project to Les Richmond, but quote it around to AMV and Ritter as well. In saying that, I reckon shipping to justinc (in TAS) would be what I would do personally - many mates and AULRO'ians have provided excellent feedback on him and his work.

If the OP welcomes the "community" route, we could help out with shed space in North Melbourne for a month or two (how long does this sort of job take?). That would be conditional upon at least one managing mechanic being present and in charge and that the work occurs on weekends - we are only parts suppliers, but also have a couple of great workshops close nearby that are good LR repairers/customers and they would probably be a helpful source of special tools too. New parts support at our cost too.

Someone please call us on 03 9329 5766 if it all progresses, I don't get on the forum much these days as mega busy with young family and huge work weeks.

    Hoo-Roo and regards, Dave.

P.S. Mod's, just noticed I am not logged in as DT-P38... if any of this conflict's with vendor rules, just delete and PM me.

Did mine for no other reason then im lazy. Went with the disco transfer case but thought motor worked a bit hard. Went back to defender transfer and disco auto. Its not a hard job to do pls check my post on my experience. If your mechanic had the parts on the workshop floor i cant imagine it would take longer then 8 hrs to remove and refit + maybe and hour to sort the neutral start switch which is really just a relay. The OP has indicated the use of NDIS......therefore I would assume a workshop would be the only option if he was to go down this route.

It is 100% awesome that there is a back up option of members willing to chip in and do the conversion. If I was down that way I would get involved.

Dave I don't remember any rules against giving good advice or generous offers while logged in with your vendor log in.. .

    Nice Offer....

I'm sure there will be plenty of others that will help if a community approach is the way it goes....

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

    Hi guys,

Thank you so much for your wishes, your suggestions and most importantly your kind offers of actual direct assistance ! And that's why I really want to stay in the LR community. Seriously, you are all amazing,

    A bit of an update:
    - I leave the physical rehab hospital on Friday. No leg yet. They will start making my log over the next few weeks, and I go back to rehab for 4 weeks to get my new leg and learn how to walk. I should walk out of here at Easter.
    - I have been talking to the NDIS about the conversion (and them paying for it), and we have some progress. As this is not my daily driver but a recreation vehicle only, it is part of my needs to get back to 4wding, Geocaching etc. From that perspective it will be a commercial transaction, and I will need to get quotes for it soon. But if the NDIS don't pay for it, I may need to take you up on the community offers.

Again, thanks so much for all of your help.
    Iamapom (Carl)
