Steering Problem
Can anyone help with steering problem, on accasion my 1990 rr seems to stiffen when turning right, not enough to lock up but need more pressure to turn. i have taken wheels off and cant see anything out place. I would grateful for any help, thx

sounds like lack of power steer fluid or a slipping belt to the power steer pump.

Just checked power steering and belts all appear to be fine, also it doesnt happen when turning left. At least thats one possible cause eliminated, thx sclarke

how much play is in the box?? and dose the output leak??
2 of my old boxes started to do the same thing, i adjusted them up
to fix the play and that only made it worse.
on inspecting the internals i found the worm was very worn
more so on one side than the other. the other box actuatty had chips
of the worm.
but check that its not a hose collapsing, dry ball joint, or burnt
ps fluid first.

such as when the a/c compressor cuts in whilst turning the wheels.....
there is definitely nothing bent underneath....?</span>

Nothing bent, no play in steering box, nothing leaking, no collapsed hoses. motor doesnt lose revs, The mystery continues, anything else i might look for, thx for the help

Try the steering dampner maybe?

Perhaps binding uni joints in the steering shaft. Try giving the joints a good soaking with WD40.

Ok, wife has now changed oil in power steering, soaked uni joints in wd 40, checked dampner, regreased ball joints. i dont know which one was the prob but it seems to be fixed. thanks everyone for your help....
