    T4 Diagnostic Software / Testbook

I was wondering if it is possible to run T4 or Testbook software on a standard laptop? Does anyone know how/where to get a copy of the software and connectors to connect PC to the vehicle.

    Regards

no I think that there is a big difference in the way the two "speak" sorry not much into computer language.

Try have a look at www.blackbox-solutions.com
    or try this one www.rovacomlite.com
the unit that goes between the computer and the plug on the car it is the software modules that can start to add to the cost

If anyone can figure out an interface it's you mate.

There have been quite a few other threads on this topic.

I came to the conclusion that even if you could develop an app to translate the fault codes, would you be confident in resetting them ??

    ( just a few modifications to pos upload :!: :!: :!: )

I've got a feeling (and Scouse or someone should know) that the Testbook PC was just a HP or Dell laptop with a dongle in the serial port to licence the software. So all you'd have to do is crack the licencing code.

No, Testbook was a specialised HP system with additional cards inside. See MG Rover Testbook until 2002

The T4 was developed by Omitec and used a Dell laptop which interfaced to a buggery box (VCSI) via ethernet. The cables connected the VCSI to the diagnostic port in the car. See Omitec : T4 Diagnostic System

I must have had a brain fade when I wrote that. Of course there's the vehicle interface, the OBD talks too damed fast for the PC anyway so you need something to sort out all the bits of data and sanitise it. Also I do remember (now its pointed out) that T4 was an HP development.
