    Question COIL ISSUE???

Have noticed my tacho "spikes" occasionally at idle to about 2000rpm. Sometimes its just once, sometimes it will do it 2 or 3 times in a row.

Have a feeling it may be the ignition coil on its way out for a few other reasons.
1 - it feels down on power a little unless you give it a bootfull at low speed.
2 - fuel usage has gone up a little bit
3 - just recently have noticed an oil leak from the coil thru the vent hole. Turned coil so vent hole is at the top and it seems to have stopped leaking. Not bad considering its the original coil in a 93 RRC!!

Anyone had this before or know if I am right??

Wondering if this may also have something to do with my hunting issue at idle and isnt all together due to a different cam......
    Cheers

Considering coils are not that expensive and you had oil leaking, replace it and see

Your tacho is driven by the alternator not the coil.
Your alternator is most likely on the way out and hash from this can effect the ECU.

Alternator is not even 12 months old and is fine. Reason I say coil is that the wrong coil can stop the tacho from working from current draw by the coil to charge it.
Might just change it and see.

How close is your coil lead to the alt/tacho sense wire?
