Got some work coming up, in particular, working on the cooling system with silicone hoses and the spring type clamps.
I don't want any chance of leaks.
Can anyone recommended a sealant to schmear on the hose and/or fittings to ensure it is 100% leakproof?
I'm always dubious with the spring type clamps. Doubly so with silicone hoses.

I'm a big fan of those clamps, but I probably should have mentioned that I'm working on this:

It's for the coolant bypass hoses on the mighty nissan VG30DETT- prone to pitting and corrosion, but I suppose similar space constraints and less than ideal sealing conditions exist on Landies too.

I have a nice collection of multiple length 1/4" wobble extensions, universal type drives and flexi coil extensions that I use with 7 or 8mm headed clamps, along with a variety of 1/4" ratchets.
Not a lot of clamps that can't be reached with all that. I'm not a spring clamp fan, but each to their own!
The only sealant I can think of for your app that I would use would be permanent, or very hard to work around if you had to get a hose off down the track. So I'll leave it anonymous.

Just read the corrosion issue, assuming you're talking aluminium.
You could try an anode like the ones used on big outboards in the ocean, inside your cooling system, they must be magnesium or something else more reactive than aly.
The anode on my 350 is the aly thermostat housing which corrodes despite a liberal coating of silicon under the hoses before clamping.

Permatec ultra black silicon works well. But really any silicon will work or even no3 non harding sealant.
Even used grease before and its worked well and stoped corrison
Spring clamps are a very good clamp as they provide full clamping force around the whole hose,worm drive clamps dont provide even pressure on the hose.
But the spring clamps are a real pain in the ass sometimes to put on and off
Permatex no 3 Aviation gasket maker in the little bottle with a brush in the lid, smear it on the fittings and the inside of the hoses before you fit them and you will never have any corrosion problems and the hoses come off easily when the time comes. Does make a sticky mess though ;-))
Toss the spring clamps in the bin! They were only invented to save time on assembly lines, have had too many that have lost tension over time.

The only thing I've ever used on hoses was silicone grease or caliper compound to ease in assembly.
