TD5 Slave Cylinder leaking again after replacement

    Hi,

Looking for some help. I have installed two clutch slaves cylinders and both have leaked after bleeding. The original dumped it's contents on the ground one day and I assumed the seal had failed.

When the first replacement leaked I thought I may have got a dodgy one and not wanting to muck around I purchased another. Installed the second today and after a short drive it is also leaking. Clutch appears to be ok but maybe it is not?

Does anyone know a way of determining if the clutch diagram springs are bent by measuring the distance the push rod extends from the bellhousing? I am thinking that the slave piston may be over extending.

Or is there something else I can be looking for?

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Fixed!

Problem solved, this one was operator error.

Back under the Defer this morning and I notice that the residual clutch fluid is at the bleed nipple end not the bellhousing end. Removed the bolts securing slave cylinder and no fluid in the bellhousing, no fluid under the dust cap either. Reinstalled slave cylinder, bled system and test drive.......all good.

Can only think that I didn't fully tighten the bleed nipple.

    G'day All,

The bleed nipple not seating properly is a common fault with new cylinders (both Clutch and Brakes.)

Due to machining tolerances the seat needs to be mated with the nipple taper.

Before you install the cylinder, seat the nipple at least 4 times by fully tightening then slack off then tighten again. This way you form a perfect seal.
