    TD5 Leaking coolant plug

After changing all the hoses and coolant and a range of ither stuff to get the disco trip ready, I Thought all was well.
Then I found coolant dripping under the gearbox bell housing.

Long story short, the screw in plug on the passenger side of the head was barely tight and leaking.
The leak was very hard to see without removing the acoustic cover and heat shields.

12mm hex socket / Allen Key required. Bit of a wire brush and some fresh sealant and all good to go.
Hopefully this may help someone else.

    Cheers

My TD5 has just begun leaking as well and after removing both the acoustic cover and heat shield it looks to be this screw in plug as well.

Can I ask your advice on any tips etc when removing the turbo and exhaust manifold and how long did it take?

Also is it worth attending to anythings whilst completing the procedure?

    Thanks in advance.

Not hard to do - have just done it.

If you follow RAVE instructions it's fairly easy. Use lots of WD40 on all bolts & nuts and go carefully on the exhaust manifold nuts as they snap quite easily. I had two broken ones but decided to replace all 10 as they are not an expensive item. Check your manifold for warping when you have it off.

    Cheers,

Any visible signs of a warped manifold? Could you test for a gap with a feeler gauge?
