Most manufacturers and retailers will tell you about 2 years and this is all some will last if worked hard. Generally I have found most last between 4-5 years. Be wary of some auto sparkies as I have found most will tell you you need a new battery even if you do not. I have had 2 last 3 years after the sparky told me it was buggered.
The AC Delco unit in the Fender is nearly 6 years and still going strong. I like these units as the main cranking battery as they are sealed and also have a charge indicator. Also they are a good price at aroung $200.

Great......that will be the first week of March then :!: :? :?

    Well...that lasted
Another jumpstart for the Disco this morning. D1 had the radio on for only 3 minutes and only to get clicks from the starter motor

So I'm up for a new one. I need an approximate cost for an original replacement battery and an aftermarket cost.

I would be tipping that the original replacement will break the bank and the aftermarket would be just as close. Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Lyndon.

Jeeeeezzzzzz....I love my job. Get on the phone and internet when I like....

Ok, I have done the research and now it will be on here for everyone to see.

    A replacement battery for a Discovery Td5.

Land Rover original replacement - $250.34
    Century/Yashua GSYUASA 86ZMF - $225.00

Now the next question is...are they the same battery that come out of the one factory with different labels/marking?

    Cheers,
    Lyndon.

I put in a Bond Ultimate Silver/Calcium a couple of weeks ago into my 2003 TD5 Disco $130. Very similar specs and the terminals were in the right spot.

Don't we get a discount on batteries from somewhere?

I am sure I saw a post not that long ago saying we had a discount....

EDIT: Found the post, it was alllll the way back on page 2 of the Technical Chatter 8O It's entitled "Battery discounts for AULRO members"

    Here's the URL: http://www.aulro.com/modules.php?name=Foru...iewtopic&t=5875

    Yep...sure do.

Just checked out the deal and what you have to do. Unfortunately it appears you have to go to the warehouse to get the wholesale discount. The warehouse address is listed as Yarraville in Victoria so this arvo it will take 1.5 hours to get there 8O

But....I can get a battery from this end of town for $170. It is the same battery but sold at retail price. It is a Supercharge Gold 36 series MF31 931. The best thing about this battery is that it is the biggest size I can find, at this stage. Here are the specs:
    CCA:950
    RC:200
It has all the sight glass, handles and the posts in the right spot so it sounds like its a winner

    Cheers,
    Lyndon.
