Injector Service 200TDI Disco in Sydney.

Hi Guys im seriously considering getting an injector service and the pump looked at, ive got 280,000 on the clock, and shes getting a tad sluggish.

ive recently run CEM powerflush through the oil and am running their fuel additive.

I plan in the next few weeks to run decarbonizer, and look at replacing the turbo hoses (anyone know where I can get those flash boy racer blue ones from?)

also thinking about upping the boost and fuel and intercooler upgrade in near future ( but thats for another thread)

So anyhow back to the original line of conversation, where can i take it - has anyone here done the take them out and DIY option - that is take them out and take them to a specialist then put them in your selves,

or does anyone know where i should take her to have this done a fair cost by people that know Land Rover - have spoken to a couple of places and they didnt seem to keen on Land Rover.

Also ive been told that the 200TDI incectors are throw away units - and cant be sourced for a reasonable price ?

    thanks

    Mick

If the 200 are the same as 300 Tdi injectors then yes they are a throw away item.

someone in here recently for a price for around $150 each for the 300 ones.

As for fuel pump most garages contract this work out - had mine done at Castle Hill, made a lot of difference with the pump being calibrated correctly and the new injectors.

Thanks LRH, yes they do subby the work out - im looking for the place(s) they send the work - at this stage I thik ill take it to JC Diesel Tune in Narellan - anyone heard of them ?

also i need to get the water trap down near the fuel tank replaced with a CAV unit. - this I can do myself - might be a good article for the newsletter -

also looking at importing my own injectors from the UK - they should come in at about $500 then again if i can get them here for about $150ea it may not be worthwhile - im also waiting for a quote from Karcraft.
    and Bearmach in the UK

LRH did you get the pump adjusted to supply more fuel etc like they do with the boost adjustments.

    Injectors

One of the prices for TDi injectors (new) were $200 ea in Australia. Out of the UK market, PADDOCKS SPARES

    www.paddockspares.com

were the best at GBP 34 ea, with approx GBP 10 postage, which converts to about AUD110 each. (No VAT or GST applicable)

In the past I've spoken to (I think this is the right name) Williamson Diesel, Tattersall Rd, Blacktown, just down from the Pick and Payless yard, and they at least can clean and re shim the injectors. They do a lot of injector and pump work, but the conversation didn't mention what sort of prices. Come payday, I will be ordering a new set of injectors from OS , and I will report in due course.

GCG turbochargers, 117 Eldridge Rd, Bankstown( near the carwash ), sell those silicone turbo pipes, but they are expensive. $70 for the 50mm 90 degreee bend and $20 for a 5cm straight section. Use some extra HD hoseclips from Pirtec, $12 ea, and that should make it bulletproof.

Just make sure that Paddocks send them via Royal Mail and not by courier as they did with me - bloody cost about $125 in Customs Duty and GST if sent by courier.

Nope - my front seal went when my cambelt shreadded itself, so while it was having the seals done they just did a service and calibration as per the factory spects - car goes MUCH harder even with the correct factory specs!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>and they at least can clean and re shim the injectors.[/b][/quote]

a mate was once talking to Berrima Diesel, and they reckoned that the break pressures were all over the shop new, and that they always re-shimmed new ones. I bounced this off the local diesel place and the head bloke there said "bull$hit, never had to re-do a new one, you just fit them !"

    so, any experiences ??

FWIW, after my first cambelt change (by the dealer) I felt the engine didn't pull as hard as prior to (the change), yet over time it and the next 100,000km it went better and better.
After doing the cambelt (and everything else that seals and rotates in there) about 5 weeks ago, the performance was a bit "off" in the mid range to top end, although actually better down low (off idle) so I re-checked the pump timing. The difference between the pump locking pin being a little bit tight to get in and being smack bang in the middle of the slot and falling in made a definate difference in mid and top end snap, and a bit over 5 km/h better over my mountain pass test route.
