Hi Dieseldog
Funny that you should ask that as just in the last week had brake squeal at low speeds under 20k just before coming to a complete stop but it doesn't happen every time I stop. Why?
Regards Adrian

there was talk of the brake squeal being the same frequency as some of the sensors.....
it was affecting the ecu from what i remember....
it may be causing the same problem to the abs.....

you never know.....

Thanks for the info Dieseldog, that might explain the problem going away as quickly as it came. What about the brake squeal could this be just a dirt build up?

its standard all land rovers....

you need to cut a groove in the middle of the pads and heavily chamfer
the leading edges......

deglaze them while youre at it......put some anti squeal stuff on the back....
and make sure the anti squeal shims are fitted and the correct way round...

this may stop the squealing....... 8O

Zook,
How deep does this groove need to be, what shape, which direction?
I get the dreaded squeal from my rear pads (D1), sometimes solved with the shims, helped by using some anti-squeal goop as well. This is an orange coloured goo, I think made by CRC.

Ta,
Ian

the groove needs to be from the top of the pad (where the tang sticks out)
to the bottom.....about three quarters of the the friction material deep....
and it should be about 2mm wide....or about 2 hacksaw blades wide....
