Symptoms sound like the BCU has locked him out after a previous immobiliser or previous incorrect FOB signal.

He got the complete bcu system new with a d2 that he bought and he swapped it over to another d2 that he is doing up. It did work in previous d2.
    Bcu has gone into lockdown.
Its locked out everything but the engine ecu. Immobiliser is active engine starts but locked in idle.

Immobilised = no crank and no ''fire'', cos the immobiliser cuts the starter and the ECU's security code so an immobilised engine can't run, that's the gist of it if you see what i mean

trying to explain you that as long as the engine starts and runs it has nothing to do with the immobiliser.... though maybe my english is not good enough to understand what you meant or to reach your intelect with it cos after i said

you still didnt reformulate that statement with the immobiliser
