    Diff Lock Light

    Hi,
I currently have a 1999 Series 2 Discovery V8, auto and seem to be having a problem. Just wondering if anyone can help me.
When i apply the brakes the diff lock light comes on and the brake lights dont seem to be working. Does anyone have any ideas as what it might be?

    Hi George
First place I would have a look is the trailer plug, check for damaged/loose wires.

Yep, worked for me, when I put my foot on the brake the park lights came on, the brake lights would be on when I turned the lights on. If the lights were on and I had my foot on the brake, the engine wouldn't turn off, even after removing the key. Couldn't use the cruise control with the lights on.

After a lot of investigating and checking almost every earth on the vehicle I discovered some GOOSE had wired the trailer socket incorrectly ops:

for my SII TD5 it happened to me after I towed my trailer. The fuse for the brake lights had blown because of a short in the trailer brake lights. I just replaced one of the fuses - down under the steering wheel RHS. Cant remember which one.

    hope this helps
