Questions for D3 owners with the ARB BB & Winch

Hi to all the owners with the ARB front Bull Bar and Warn winch.

What model of Warn winch did you have fitted? Are there options to select from in the Warn range?

Who had their BB colour coded or asked for black and why? I think black is better in the long run due to scratches not being so painful on a colour coded one.

Did you have aftermarket lights fitted and was the wiring done by the installer of the BB?

My dilemma is deciding if the I should go with the ARB BB or the LR winch and A-Bar. Protection wise the ARB BB will be far better and looks less complicated to install. The ARB bar also has mounts for aerials. My LR Dealer still can't give me any pricing so I suspect these accessories aren't available in Oz.

    Thanks for your comments.

    Chris

    Chris,

I had the ARB bar fitted with a warn 9.5xp winch as that is the same one LR fit as part of their kit.

I was quoted $6,600 by LR to fit their Winch, excluding the A bar which was an extra $1,700 for a piece of solid rubber!

I went for black as it looks better against white. And I got the IPF extreme spots fitted at the same time. Oh, and dynamica rope on the winch. I'm still ahead of the LR price.

There is no way of mounting an antenna on the LR bar. As it's rubber, you can't even screw into it securely.

    Thanks Jamo,

I wasn't sure of the winch if it was the XP or not but you confirmed that for me. I think the winch is $2,400 and the bar is $1500 before any negotiation and fitting costs.

What did the lights cost to fit? Where did they fit the switch and do you know where they spliced into the highbeam loom?

    Thanks

    Chris

The lights were about $500 I think. Actual fitting was only $65 for the lights.

They put a stick-on IPF switch on the dash to the left of the steering column. I'll take a photo if you'd like and post it.

I don't know where they tapped into the loom, but I can call and ask tomorrow if you'd like.

The ARB costs were $1610 the bar and $2210 for the winch.

    Jamo,

    Thanks again.

I just had a look on the ARB site and see the lights come with a loom. The fitting price seems reasonable.

I'll go get a quote from my ARB dealer in Melb (Southern) for a complete set up with the synthetic rope.

They're Performance Wheels BB6 17x8 with Cooper STT 245/70R17 tyres.

I use them for bush work and swap back to the 18's for normal.

The roof racks due today and the rooftop tent next week.

Now all I have to do is get a snorkel when it's available!

Good luck on the wheel/tyre searh.
