The max fuel screw might need a tweak in a clockwise direction.
I backed mine out by 1/2 a turn and it would hardly idle.
Hi, just finished rebuilding the VE Bosch pump on a 1994 300tdi in a Defender. After a lot of pumping and cranking it started up and idled away beautifully. Gave myself a pat on the back, packed up the tools and set off on a drive. No response to acceleration, no smoke from the exhaust, no pulling power and nothing more than just over idle, completely starved of fuel. The pump timing may be out but as stated, idles perfectly, I would really appreciate any thoughts or ideas of where to go now. The hand priming is done by a piston pump, added after vehicle purchase, this pump pushes a lot of fuel through, during priming I cracked the banjo bolt on the line that returns to the tank until a lot of airless fuel came out. Thanks for any help. Raffynn

The other 2% made it home.
Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.
Sounds like the Accelerator cable is not connected?
Apart from that, I don't know Diesels so I have just wasted your time reading this reply!
Thanks, that part is all good, Cheers Raffynn
