Trans Case Gear Hardening worn off??

Chatting with someone on the FB page today and he has been advised that the case hardening of the gears in his LT230T has worn and need replacing.
Has anyone heard of this before as I have not.
I would imagine they would have to get very hot to do something like that.

Hi Craig yes we have come across this. Mostly it is the input gear that suffers however the intermediate cluster is its counterpart and ends up binned and high range also by default....
Causes are varied but mostly down to high km and poor maintenance/ oil quality.
