    Td5 crankshaft seal leak?

    Hi
I noticed this oil leak at the front of my Td5. It looks very much like a crankshaft seal issue to me. My question is, how quickly is this likely to get worse, i.e. can the car be driven?

    Thanks
    Joachim

Slight moisture at the seal keep an eye on it
    As for the actual leak
Check the cam plug on the end of the head it might be the cause as might be the rocker cover seal
Alternately the oil feed or drain on the alternator (vac pump) might be the cause
Certainly isnt a catastrophic oil leak I would drive it

best to clean it up, drive a bit, and recheck it for fresh leaking.

Could also be the sump gasket.

Harmonic balancer is a total PITA to remove and refit .. but only because of the 400+Nm required for the bolt.
We had to borrow a 3/4" drive torque wrench from brother's mechanic mate to do his, and there is really very little room between the radiator and the bolt to do so.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

    Thanks for the quick response.
I double checked and can't see oil above the crankshaft near the front of the engine. So, I think it's not the camshaft cover and the vac pump on the alternator is also very clean.
I might clean everything up and see if I'm able to trace it back that way. I'd like to fixe it for peace of mind as I'm doing a Simpson trip in two months.

I'm starting to think that it is the sump gasket as I can't see any oil wall above it.
