2 places water can get into a TD5

    Hi Guys
For those of you who are into serious swiming with a TD5,or accidental ops: ops: ops: ops: ops: ops: ops: ops:
Whilst "oil proofing" my injector harness I found 2 places water can get in.
1 the injector harness,it relys on 2 Orings to seal the hole in the head, mine had been weeping oil here so a hot engine would suck water in if immersed.
2 camshaft end grommet.(on front of the head) What an engineering masterpiece, its a loose fit and also weeps oil.
I realise most wouldnt swim as deep as the top of the head, except Clarkie I spose put they are a couple of spots that need attention if you enjoy water sports.

    Andy,
If yours was weeping near the harness connector, you can not have been far away from getting oil into the harness and ecu connector. Good preventative maintenance.

I replaced the o ring in the camshaft grommet with one with a bigger cross section this stopped the leak and made the grommet tight in the hole
