I usually put a very small blob on the position A with eu2 and 3 , even though the 3 has a larger diameter 1/2 moon designed to eliminate leakage at this point , never had an issue.
I need to change out my injector wiring loom and therefore the camshaft cover gasket. Have been reading in regards to apply a 3mm bead of silicone on the rear D section, but the manual states this is for not EU3 models leaving one to assume not to follow this on an EU3 motor?:

A copy of the LR Tech Bulletin is available in the original post of Td5 cam cover sealant

Always. Only a thin spread/ bead through the half moon shape on the head. NONE anywhere else.

Mine is a Eu3 and i have replaced the gasket twice in my ownership and yes i use a thin bead![]()
When you say through the half moon shape, do you mean go from point A on the diagram all the way through the dip to the second point A on the diagram?
I ask as the instructions (for the non-EU3 at least) seem to indicate two seperate beads of sealant, one each side at the top edge of the half moon shape, not actually in the dip part.
I replaced mine a few years ago with genuine LR and it's been weeping for a while now so the extra sealant might have been needed - I can't recall if I did or didn't back then. Guess I'll find out when I remove it on the weekend.
Ive always run a thin bead across the gasket itself while the rocker cover is upside diwn waiting to go back on just over the top of the half moon bit
