GKN Double Cardan Front Prop Shaft

Can't find my old thread re double cardan front prop shaft for my Defender. In the thread we talked about a Tom Woods one but waiting on my tax refund and have not done anything yet. However, I dropped in to see my independent LR shop and asked them what they supply and they said GKN which they said were good. See screen shot. Anyone like to make a comment or tell me of their experience with this brand.

that will rip a defender apart...

In any case, gkn are a respectable brand. I am looking for a tom woods myself, since there seem to be no other options for my P38. I am not sure how to measure the performance of these shafts other than the force they can handle and how well balanced they are. Strength seems to be taken well care of it seems with the gkn

Can't see a listing for Disco or Defender DC prop shafts in their catalogue.

yes, you'd think they would have them listed considering the number of shafts that Land Rovers seem to chew through. I changed 2 in my d2 in 300,000 odd km. None in my Pathfinder in 300, 000 odd km in exactly the same driving conditions. None in my work HiLux in 200,000km in some real bad conditions in Qld coal mines. And it appears D2's and Defenders are still chewing up shafts.

Lots of posts on DC shaft rebuilds/purchases.
GKN is a very respectable manufacturer/supplier of the separate parts that go into a DC shaft.

Is your D2 raised? If so, better than standard Uni's are required,

Funnily, I have what looks like an adapted HiLux LN106 DC fitted to my Defender :-)
