The factory screen is Opticool, so if the aftermarket one isn’t you’re on a winner there.

You’ll also want them to ensure they will guarantee in writing that the aftermarket glass and rain sensor work perfectly (several don’t from those I’ve spoken to with aftermarket glass).

- Genuine top rubber x1


And I suggest changing insurer

If the old windscreen is still fitted then take a picture of the numbers etc in the bottom left corner as a record. I understand that the Mnnnn code along with any suffix identifies the glass properties including any sound, tint and reflective qualities. My RRV's code is M1859-1 which identifies it as sound insulating, tinted, heated and heat reflecting.

A Pilkington screen without a LR logo will be identical to a LR-marked Pilkington if the part number above the glass code is identical. Even some original screens don't have the LR logo.

Had the windscreen in the P38A replaced last year through Suncorp. I showed the repairer that it was a heated screen. He got back to Suncorp and told them the only available ones were genuine. No problem, even though he told me when I picked it up that the screen cost over $1200, and the genuine fitting kit was another $150 or so.
I'd suggest telling them that the screen must be at least the equivalent to what's currently fitted, as per what Tombie and Graeme said.

O'Briens have an arrangement with most insurance companies where O'Briens handle the whole claim process and you do not need to go to your insurer to claim.

I needed a new windscreen in March for my RRS and claimed direct through O'Briens, never submitted anything to my insurer. Optikool windscreen was provided with no argument - O'Briens did it all.
