TD5 bolts that are throw away

    Hi
What bolts on a TD5 are single use?
ATM i have found the head bolts, rocker shaft bolts, injector adjust screws and nut

    Is there anything else?

I am also replacing the cam bolts and injector hold down clamp bolts, and the vrs kit comes with exhaust stud's and nuts

    Thanks
    Mark

Just some info rather than answering your specific question.
*Yes good practice to replace cylinder head bolts or any bolt thats a "torque to turn", as in there is one or more torque setting and then there is a say 90 deg turn as the last tightening figure.
*Bolts such as cylinder head bolts stretch as they are tightened up, that tension is what assists in holding vital components in place such as the cylinder head.
*If you follow Land Rover manuals, you will end up replacing just about every nut and bolt on the whole vehicle over a 10 year ownership.
*its not a TD5 thing, but a fairly standard practice in workshop manuals to state "remove and replace" a certain bolt etc.
*Isuzu trucks as an example, every time you unbolted a component of the fuel system the manual stated it must be replaced.

    *You have covered most common bolts that are replaced;
    *head bolts, exhaust studs/nuts
    Regards
    Daz

According to LR you should replace the sump plug every time you change the oil.
    fat chance.

My young bloke is doing an apprentiship and currently works at a LR Dealer. How many sump plugs do you want ?

He regularly brings them home along with other bolts that they throw away ( I taught him well....).
Drain plugs on the TDV6 have a rubber seal, like an O-ring with an inner web to centralise it. Cheaper to replace the plug than the labour cost of replacing the seal !

He found the other week that AdBlue in a LR bottle costs more than AdBlue in a Jaguar bottle !

Not on the Td5, they say only about the washer

And what's wrong with that ?

My Defender has the same copper washer fitted to the sump plug that was there when I purchased it (about 18 years ago), re-annealed every service.

A lot of the copper washers supplied new are are 'hard' or 'half hard' so don't actually seal properly so most new washers I anneal as well.

I do the same on brake flexi copper washers. On a Series I master cylinder years back I used the copper washer in the kit and the bloody thing wouldn't seal, annealed the original and re-fitted it and it's still there today 10 years later.

Cheap skate ? Yes, and SWMBO will confirm it in writing if you want.......

I give a free washer with the td5 service kits, until I sprung one member not using them, he was saving them in a jar waiting for the price of copper to go up for his retirement fund, so he no longer gets them
